Match Report
Shiplake College Boys-U13B vs  The Oratory School
On: Wednesday, 20 Mar 2024
Venue: Away

We were feeling energetic and focused walking into the grounds of Oratory as we were to play the first half up the slope. Oratory scored the first goal, a lucky one, but we kept our heads up. Despite many shots on target, we went into half-time 1-0 down. After our coach gave us some inspirational words and told us to keep a high defensive line we were ready to go and win the match in the second half, which ended up being a goal frenzy. Ollie Thorpe scored early on, burying the ball into the bottom corner. 1-1. Then we were on a roll. Oscar Methven booted the ball into their box, which they could not clear, Harry Woodward passed the ball to Ollie Thorpe who scored a second into the top corner. Shiplake held a lot of the possession and were able to play much better football. The third goal game came soon after the second. 3-1 to Shiplake. Next play started and Shiplake won back possession straightaway. Passing it round the field, George Dallas took the ball up the left wing and crossed into the box. The Oratory defender cleared it, going straight to Ollie Thorpe and from near the halfway line he scored into the bottom corner. Oratory got a consolation goal in the last minute but the game finished 4-2 to Shiplake. Special mention goes to Henry Lawrence for taking up the role as right back and playing a cracking game. Well done Shiplake!
