Shiplake College 2nd XI vs  University College School (UCS) Boys-U18D
On: Saturday, 19 Jan 2019
Venue: at Home

Shiplake were keen to keep up their impressive start of season against UCS. Shiplake started well, and were steadfast at the back throughout the game thanks to another resilient performance from Josh Gibson and Isaac Neale. The opening ten minutes saw no goals from either side however a well worked move from the midfield, resulted in a neat finish from Kai O’ Hare to put Shiplake 1-0 up. Shiplake continued to play well and piled the pressure onto the UCS side. The second goal came from a well worked piece stemming from strong defense from Morgan Taylor and Sam Redding, the move ended with a well taken shot from James Burgess. The goal saw UCS heads drop and Shiplake were keen to capitalise going into the second half. A few tactical changes at half term saw the team really dominate the UCS side with solid passing from fullbacks Oscar Rait and Archie Buchanan, Tom Mythen was rock-like in the CDM role and provided excellent service to Shiplake strikers. The third goal was a stunner, Jack Powell’s excellent strike from the edge of the penalty box made it 3-0 and put the game to bed. Shiplake continued to dominate UCS right until the end and Josh Gibson rose high to meet a Kai O Hare corner to finish UCS off. Final score, 4-0.

MOTM was Ben West but it could have gone to any of the boys. An excellent performance from the team who we will be looking to continue their winning ways against John Lyon next week.
