Match Report
Shiplake College 1st XV vs  Pangbourne College
On: Wednesday, 21 Nov 2018
Venue: Away

With a lot to prove for the 1st XV boys after last weeks disappointment, the team went out with a point to prove and remove the doubts about them. The game started with Shiplake getting on the scoreboard early after the surprise of the season so far with Isaac Beasley scoring a try. This was followed with Matty Fitzgerald getting the extras this was followed by Pangbourne trying to outmuscle Shiplake but even with this it was not possible and Shiplake got on the scoreboard through the forms of Matty Fitzgerald scoring in the corner through some build up pressure on the Pangbourne try line. Pangbourne then started to put the pressure on Shiplake and some poor discipline lead to a penalty being given away with they capitalised on getting 3 points. Shiplake hit back with some aggression through the forwards carrying hard and where nearly in for another try though James Burgess after a dangerous line but the ball did not stick an this let Pangbourne off. The first half finish low scoring for the opportunities Shiplake had luckily for Pangbourne.

Shiplake went into the second half looking to redeem themselves from FNL and did so it started sloppy with a well worked lineout move from Pangbourne getting them there first and the last try of the game. Shiplake did not look back after this and started to put on the show they had been looking for with a try coming from Robbie Cartwright down the middle soon followed by another try from Jamie Gibbs leaving Shiplake a bit too confident nearly allowing Pangbourne back into the match, however, Matty Fitzgerald with thunderous shots soon stopped Shiplake going behind. Shiplake getting the last words scoring through Robbie Cartwright leaving the final score at 33 - 8 to Shiplake, Shiplake left feeling good after looking to get the season back on track even if they could of putting more points on Pangbourne. Thanks to all the travelling crowd from Shiplake making it feel like it was a Shiplake event.
