Match Report
Shiplake College 3rd XI vs  Mill Hill & Belmont Schools
On: Saturday, 23 Mar 2019
Venue: at Home

Shiplake 3rd XI returned to winning ways in a 7-1 victory against Mill Hill School. Max Bunting scored his first hat-trick of the season and continued his streak of scoring in every single match.

Alfie Rigby returned to partner Luke Mullin in the CM positions and together, they ensured that a talented Mill Hill midfield duo had little success. Luke Mullin put in another excellent performance and on one occasion, went past three players and let fly with a left-footed shot which went narrowly wide. Alfie Rigby had his best game of the season, combining flair with hard work and good decision making. In this form, he is a conundrum for the opposition.

Toby Head epitomised selflessness and awareness in the two goals he created. The first was a perfectly weighted reverse pass to Max Way who lifted the ball beautifully into the top left-hand corner of the goal. Toby was not done yet, bearing down on goal, he could have shot or rounded the keeper but selflessly passed to Alfie Rigby who made no mistake by stroking the ball calmly into the net.

Jack Powell was also on the score sheet, showing great desire and quick thinking to get in front of the defender on both occasions and then slotting the ball past the goalkeeper.

Other notable performances were Harry Holmes in LB, Theo Fewtrell and Callum Creighton in CB, Matt Healy who put on the goalkeeping gloves for the day, Joe Durcan and Josh Hazell in the RB position. Archie Buchanan came on in the second half and almost scored from an Alfie Rigby cross into the back post. We look forward to our penultimate match of the season at home to Reading School on Wednesday.
