Match Report
Shiplake College 3rd XI vs  Gordon's School
On: Wednesday, 06 Feb 2019
Venue: at Home

Having had 2 matches cancelled due to snow, the 3rd XI players were desperate to play a competitive fixture but we felt anxious as kick-off came and went and there was no sign of our opponents. We finally got underway fifteen minutes after the scheduled kick-off. In the opening minutes, both teams battled hard to dictate the play but it was Shiplake College who managed to control the game. We soon started creating chances and after missing a handful, we finally scored through Max Bunting. Alfie Rigby was impressive in midfield, winning the ball on numerous occasions and then playing delightful passes on the ground and over the top for Luke R-S, Joe D, Max B, Toby H and Josh Hazell to run unto. In defence, Theo F and Will M were both having excellent games - collecting the ball from Ben F in goal and playing it quickly into the wingers. Captain, Robbie C, and fellow centre back, Archie B, ensured that the Gordon's forwards had a very long 70 minutes. In the 2nd half, we scored at regular intervals with Robbie C, Toby H, Max Bunting and Jack P all getting on the scoresheet. Gordon's kept going even at 5-0 down and they were rewarded with two late goals. Goalkeeper, Ben Ferguson, saved a penalty and the follow-up but Gordon's managed to tuck the ball away at the third time of asking. We look forward to our next match, a local derby, against Reading Blue Coats.
