Match Report
Shiplake College 3rd XI vs  RGS, Guildford
On: Saturday, 02 Mar 2019
Venue: at Home

With 5 key players unavailable for our fixture against RGS Guildford, there was a chance that we could falter at this next hurdle. Joe Duncalf and Matthew Healy were called up to help plug the gap and they were both magnificent in CDM and CB respectively. Both teams started well and kept the ball beautifully. It was pleasing to see us return to our normal style of football, 'take it, pass it', after hoofing it for much of the first half in our last fixture (needs must).

Max Bunting, captain for the day, opened the scoring after running unto a pass from Josh Hazell and striking it cleanly into the goal to maintain his record of scoring in every game so far. Shortly after scoring, he turned provider for Max Way. Running unto a ball from Jack Powell, Max Bunting drove to the byline and fizzed the ball across the face of the goal for Max Way to cooly tuck the ball into the back of the net.

Our confidence grew and we continued to play some delightful football - exchanging short and quick passes all over the pitch. We went into half time 3-0 ahead after Joe Durcan scored into the near post after combining beautifully with Max Way and Toby Head.

In the second half, we kept moving the ball quickly and created many chances but were unable to add to the goal count. A special mention for Toby Head who linked up well with the midfielders and for Josh Hazell and Will Mullin who both put in assured performances in RB and LB.

It was great to keep our first clean sheet of the season and to see Archie Buchanan not only win tackles and headers but also show composure on the ball. We look forward to our next fixture against St Edward's next week Saturday.
