Match Report
Shiplake College 1st XV vs  St George's College, Weybridge
On: Saturday, 06 Oct 2018
Venue: Away

The game start with Shiplake pressing on the St George's attack that we with stood for 10 minutes before the first try of the game came from St George’s. Shiplake soon hit back with an aggressive kick off which allowed us to but the pressure on St George’s they were not able to keep up with the fast ball Shiplake were getting and soon gave away a penalty. With the boy’s you focus of fast rugby we went quick Callum Theodorou with passing the ball wide for Matt Dalrymple to take to ball to the line, to put a player through the gap and go round a defender scoring under the posts. Shiplake now had the lead 7 - 5, this in mind the boys then starting playing with confidence and we looked like scoring with a nice run from Matty Fitzgerald, before under committing and losing the attacking opportunity. This soon lead to a penalty to St George’s which allowed them to make ground and score a soft try in the corner. Shiplake then defended for the rest of the half and managed to keep some good ball carries from the St George’s forward pack, crossing the try line.

The time the second half came along the conditions suited St George’s style of play, Shiplake then had a momentum change and started to look very dangerous with some pick and go around the rucks with Matt Davies at the front of this with some superb picks. Shiplake were now on the St George’s try line where a try got questionably disallowed leaving the score 7 - 12 to St George’s. I am very proud of a very gutsy performance, with the boys showing guts, determination and most importantly, teamwork.

Next up are City of London Freemen’s School on Saturday 13th October KO1430.
